Dieting Basics – Weight Loss for Beginners

The word “diet” has become defined as a mean for eliminating or limiting a certain foods sources in conventional diets today. The real definition simplified by my own words of diet is, “a prescribed selection of foods.” I believe strongly that this simple definition says everything about what a diet is unlike conventional diets have defined it.

Dieting is not starvation, tormenting, and in other words, a living hell! It can be as 1, 2, and 3. As most people follow conventional diets, it is proven only 5% will actually lose weight and keep it off. But why only 5% succeed and other 95% fail? They did not follow these three steps.

1. Setting goals and methods of action.

Setting goals are not only for motivation but to give dieters a sense of direction on what they want to achieve. Some excellent question they should ask themselves and write on their goals sheet is what you want to accomplish, when do you want to reach these goals, how are you going to accomplish these goals, and why are they important?

Other question they should write down is why would they give up, what don’t you like about yourself, and when you reach your goals what we be different?

I recommend this to everyone that ask me to help them with some tips on how to stay motivated and the number one tips that does the best is taking pictures of yourself and putting them where you will see them every day.

No this is not a joke as a before and after picture are proven to keep people motivated and reaching for their goals.

In a nutshell, keep your goals sheet with your answers right by your pictures where you will see them every day to help keep you reaching for your goals.

2. Gain the knowledge needed.

Researching about healthy eating, weight loss, and exercise can become a struggle and risky with the health industry pointing you towards unnecessary weight loss supplement, diets, and exercise equipment.

Searching now for several years I have become fond of government site that give out a lot of free information, articles, and study’s that are trustworthy and I like to say, “the real thing.” I have made several weight loss websites available to you on my website for easy access to some of the best information online without having to research. Taking the time to learn about the basics of nutrition, exercise, and healthier living is the key towards success.

One of the best sources I believe and back up 100% is by Tom Venuto, “Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle.” This e-book has become the best selling weight loss book online as its results speak for itself. If you are interested in this book you can review it at the link below as I believe you should make decisions when you learn the truth for yourself instead of someone else telling you. I guarantee it is an excellent book.

3. Construct a exercise, eating, and daily planner.

When creating your exercise, eating, and daily planner you need to take several elements and into account. Some things you have to incorporate into your daily planner is the amount of time and money you have to delegate to your goals, fitness level, and schedule.

So let’s recall what the steps just where.

You wrote out your goals and what you want to achieve in how much time, with your questions and answers, and don’t forget about your before and after pictures where you will see them every day. Next, you seek the knowledge to take action correctly and to get maximum results with as less amount of time and money spent. Last, you created a daily planner that consist of your exercise and nutrition schedules and planners to keep track of what needs to be done to accomplish your desired results. These three steps have been used over and over again with excellent results and I recommend you try it as well.

Thank you for taking the time to educate yourself on dieting and we hope you take advantage of my latest weight loss news, diets, and inspiration. Good Luck and God Bless!

Weight Loss Basics

Many people struggle with body image and weight issues at some point in their life. Due to the high number of advertising avenues, fad diets and miracle pills, it is no wonder that most people don't know when or how to approach weight loss. With all of this confusion I think it is time to bring it "back to the basics". The following tips are simple guidelines that you can follow to achieve weight loss and lead a healthier life.

To start any weight loss program you will need to clearly establish and define "realistic" goals. Write down why you want to lose weight, benefits that can result from weight loss and specific changes you are making to your diet. By doing this, you are able to see if the changes you made are contributing towards your weight loss goals. Keep in mind that ½ to 2 pounds of weight loss each week is reasonable.

Before you can reach any goal you have to start somewhere. Start by weighing yourself and creating a food journal for one week. It is important to chart your progress during your weight loss journey. In this food journal keep track of everything you eat and drink as well as how you are feeling at that very moment. This part is crucial because it will reveal eating patterns that may have become habit.

Review your food journal after recording food intake for one week. Look for any patterns in your eating habits and make a commitment to change! For example, you may want to skip the high calorie snacks like brownies or chips and snack on fruits or vegetables instead. If soda is a large contributor to daily caloric intake you may want to switch to diet soda or drink water instead. You should try to drink 6 to 8 cups of water each day; you will find that water is a natural hunger suppressant. The key here is to be consistent and you will see results. Keep in mind that life continually throws obstacles in your way so don't become discouraged if you loose 2 pounds the first week and only 1 pound the second.

Increasing the calories you burn will also aid in weight loss. Start out by taking a walk around the neighborhood and then gradually add intensity. Keep exercise exciting by trying new activities and/or equipment. For example, try swimming as an aerobic exercise instead of walking. Again, you will want to track your exercise activities each day in your weight loss journal.

Setting goals, reducing caloric intake and exercising are the main elements in weight loss. It is also important to eat regularly and not skip meals. When times get tough and you need a little encouragement don't be afraid to ask for support from family and friends. If you need more help or guidance see a dietician or join a weight loss support group. With these tips and a commitment to change you are well on your way to reaching your goals!

Counting Calories for Best Weight Loss

You see ads everyday in the papers, the Internet and especially on TV claiming that you can lose x amounts of pounds in just a week. With all the money spent on advertising and those before and after pictures, you get tempted to pick up the telephone and call to order their "magic" product. But the truth is those are all just a bunch of marketing scam. The "diets" seen in those advertisements will mostly give you short term results and as soon as you stop doing what's advertised you'll just return to your old self. Not to mention all the damage you're doing to your metabolism. The truth is everyone wants an easy way out, a pill they can take, well I hate to tell you this, but you didn't get fat in a week, so how do you expect to get slim in that amount of time?

The best way to lose weight and by weight I mean fat, is to calculate your daily calorie consumption. The body needs a certain amount of calories to survive and the extra calories are for your extra activities. So in order to lose weight you need to burn more calories then you consume: either by consuming fewer calories or increasing the amount of calories burnt. Simple, no? Well actually the human metabolism is an extremely complex process, but it's best not to over think on some matters and do what works best.

First, you need to start by calculating how many calories you're consuming each day. I know you're thinking that it's not easy but once you get the hang of it, it'll become second nature. There are numerous calorie counting sites on net and a simple Google search will provide the answer. Just log in all your daily foods and it'll give you your total number of calories with all the macronutrients: proteins, carbohydrates and fats. I won't go into detail for each macronutrient, but to sum it up look at it this way. Protein is for repairing your skin tissues and building strong muscles, nails and hair. Carbohydrates (carbs for short) are your body's primary energy source. And fat is your reserve energy tank.

Second, clean up your diet. Remove all the junk food and processed crap and replace it with whole grains, lean meats and healthy fats. Whole foods (especially foods with high protein) have a thing called a thermal effect, which basically means it takes more energy for your body to burn the food, so you burn more calories. Not to mention that they're much healthier and will give you an overall better result. Try to spread the food evenly throughout the day. Example: Breakfast, Snack, Lunch, Snack and Dinner. This way your metabolism will be active all day and you'll be burning fat.

And finally, remove about 500 calories worth of food each day (1 lb of fat is about 3500 calories) or do extra cardio exercises to match that amount of calories so you'll lose around 1-2 pounds a week. And there you have it. Always remember that this is a marathon and not a sprint.

Hoodia Balance Diet Pill

Every year, people spend a lot of money in designed products to help them to lose weight. No of them look like to work very well. Now along hoodia comes. Never heard about it? Well, Hoodia is a natural substance that eliminates literally your appetite.
It is very different from the stimulants of the diet like ephedra and Phenfen that now are prohibited due to dangerous indirect effect. Hoodia does not stimulate in all. The scientists say hoodia fulls your brain making you think that you are full. Corresponding information of Lesley Stahl. "Hoodia, a plant that fulls your brain doing the sensation of the full stomach, has been in the diet of Bushmen (South Africa) for the thousands of years."
Because the only place in the world in where hoodia grows wild is in the desert of Kalahari of South Africa. Nigel Crawhall, linguist and interpreter, used experienced pursuer named Toppies Kruiper, local native bushman, to help to find it.
" Kruiper lead to 60 equipment of the minutes towards outside in the desert. Stahl asked to him if it ate hoodia. "I really has taste to eat them when new rains have come," Kruiper says, speaking through the interpreter. "then they are really absolutely delicious." When we located the plant, Kruiper cut a stem that seemed a small brine spiky, and cleared the acute spines. In the interest of science, Stahl ate it. It described the taste like "small cucumbery in texture, but nonbad." So how she worked? Stahl says that it had not after the effects - no taste amused in her mouth, no stomach queasy, and no heart that competed with. It also was not hunger all, even when it would have a jab around mealtime normally. And, she also did not have any desire to eat or to drink the whole day. "she would have to say it I worked," says Stahl. Although the west is right discovering hoodia, the bosquimanos of the Kalahari are it been eating by a very long time. After all, they have been living on the Earth in southern Africa by more than 100,000 years. Some of the bosquimanos, like Ana Swartz, immovable live in old traditional huts, and cook the feeding of supposed forest collected of the desert the old-fashioned way. The first scientific research of the plant was lead in the national laboratory of South Africa. Because they knew the bosquimanos to eat hoodia, it was including in an indigenous food study. "what found it was when they fed it the animals, the animals ate it and lost the weight," says to Dr Richard Dixey, who directed to pharmaceutical company English Phytopharm call that is trying to develop products of the weigh-loss based on hoodia. Was the potential use of hoodia like immediately obvious appetite suppressant? "no, it took a long time them. In fact, the original investigation was done in half-full years 60 of, "says Dixey. The insulator took to surafricano national laboratory 30 years and identifies the ingredient appetite-that it suppressed specific in hoodia. When they found it, they asked for a patent and they licensed it to Phytopharm. Phytopharm has happened more than $20 million until now in the investigation, including clinical tests with the obese volunteers who have rendered promising results. The given subjects hoodia finished upon eating less near 1,000 calories to the day than those in the control group. In order to put that in perspective, the average American man consumes near 2,600 calories to the day; a woman near 1.900. "if you take to this compound every day, its desire to eat goes down. And we have seen that very, very dramatically, "Dixey says. But why you need a patent for a plant? "the patent is in the use of the plant like material of the weigh-loss. And, of course, the active compounds within the plant. He is not in the plant itself, "says Dixey. So no others can use hoodia for the loss of the weight? "like product of the weigh-management without the infraction of the patent, of which he is correct," Dixey says. But what that opinion on all these products of the weigh-loss that they demand to have hoodia in her? Trimspa says that their X32 pills contain magnesium 75 of hoodia. The company is pushing its product with an announcement campaign that offers Ana Nicole Smith, although the FDA has notified Trimspa that has not demonstrated that the product is safe. Some companies have even used the clinical test resultses of Phytopharm to put their products. "this one is hardly direct theft. That is which are. People are robbing the data, that she has not done, she does not have no appropriate understanding of, and sticking in the bottle, "Dixey says. "when we have proven these materials, she contains between 0,1 and 0,01 percent of the demanded active ingredient. But she uses hoodia of the term in the bottle, of course, so she -- she does not do anything in all." But Dixey is not the unique one who has torn felt dull. The bosquimanos first heard the news on the patent when Phytopharm put outside towards a press launching. Roger Chennells, lawyer in Africa of the south that represents bosquimanos, that also are called "San," was terrified. "San did not even know on him," says Chennells. "they had given the information that that one lead directly towards the patent." Taking from the traditional knowledge without the remuneration is called "bio-piracy." "you are saying, and I am going to quote to him, ' that San felt as if somebody had robbed the silver of the family, '" Stahl says to Chennells. "what you did it you do so" "it would not wish to enter some of the details as far as what class of letters was written or what class of threats was done," I say Chennells. "we contracted them. They had done something badly, and we wanted that they recognized it." Chennells was certain to help bosquimano that, he says, has operated itself by centuries. First they were pushed a side by the black tribes. Then, when the white colonos arrived, they annihilated them almost. "on the return of the century, it had left immovable from the hunting in Namibia and in South Africa that allowed that the farmers went to kill bosquimanos," it says Chennells. "it is documented well." The bosquimanos are still stigmatized in South Africa, and plagued with the high unemployment, little education, and portions of alcoholism. And now, it looked like that they were on the verge of being cut of potential an unexpected gain of hoodia. Chennells so threatened to demand the national laboratory in its favor. "we knew that if outside guessed right, many, many million dollars would be coming towards San," we say Chennells. "many, many million. They have spoken of the market that was hundreds and hundreds of million in America." In the end, an establishment was reached. The bosquimanos will obtain a percentage of the benefits -- if there are benefits. But that one is a great one if. The future of hoodia it is not still a safe thing. The project struck an important hook the last year. Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, that had teamed for above with Phytopharm, and financed much of the investigation, fallen towards outside when the manufacture of a pill outside the active ingredient looked like beyond reach. Dixey says that it can be made synthetic: "we have made milligrams of him. But he is very expensive. It is not possible to make it synthetic in what a scaleable process is called. We could not so do one ton metric of her or something that is the amount class that you would need to really begin to do something on obesity in thousands of people." Phytopharm decided to put hoodia in its natural form, shocks of the diet and I sweep. That meant that it needed the plant itself hoodia. But dice the epidemic of the obesity in the United States, got to be obvious that which was necessary they were many of hoodia - much more that grew in the savage in the Kalahari. And they came so here. 60 minutes visited one of the plantations of hoodia of Phytopharm in South Africa. They will need many these plantations to solve the predicted demand. Agronomist Simon MacWilliam has a high order: grow billion portions to the year of hoodia, inside hardly of a pair of years. He admitted that beginning upon the plantation it has been absolutely a challenge. "the problem is we is dealing with a harvest of the novel. It is a plant that we have taken from the savage and we are beginning to grow it, ' we say MacWilliam. "we do not have so any experience. It is so different? diseases and parasites of which we must occupy to us." How faithful they are that they will be able to grow enough? "we are very faithful of that one," he says. "we have a program of the extension that is going to be 100s of acres. And we will be able - it lists to solve the demand. This could be enormous, dice the epidemic of the obesity. Phytopharm says that it is on the verge of announcing the plans of the commercialization that will have products of hoodia of the food-replacement in shelves of the supermarket before 2008. MacWilliam says that these products are proven slightly diverse species of hoodia Stahl in the desert of Kalahari. "he is really much more bitter that the plant that you proved," says MacWilliam. The advantage is this species of hoodia will grow much more fast. But bitterer? How bad it could be? Stahl decided to discover. "nongood," she says. Phytopharm says that when its product is able to put, she will be safe and effective registered. Also they promise that it will prove good. More information...

Find Out the Secret Not Everyone Knows About Weight Loss and Getting Yourself in Shape

Every woman want to loose wait fast. Someone dreams to lose 2 inches in a month, someone want to lose weight safely and easily... Weight loss. Those two words and already your mind is thinking diets, lettuce, starvation and gym membership. I guess thats partly right but what makes people fail to lose the weight they want has nothing to do with lettuce, diets, gym membership or starvation.

Losing weight is quite simply a goal.

The only person who has control of achieving a goal is you. What lies in between you and your goal [losing weight in this case] is what you allow to be put there. By this point you are perhaps thinking 'oh I have heard this before, think it and you'll achieve it'. Thats partly right but the fundamental difference with what I am telling you is to do with the word starvation. Ok you might not think you are starving yourself at times but you certainly feel you are giving something up. You feel you are making a sacrifice to allow yourself to lose weight.

Its this thinking that makes you fall off your diet plan or stop going to the gym. Too much pressure and its just too hard to stick to.

The answer to this simple but profound problem when trying to lose weight is to view the whole process as a little fish in a bigger pond. The big picture would be that your life would be transformed, you would feel a million dollars [ok maybe not but am sure you would feel happier?].

If you start by thinking long and hard about the word moderation. Look at it like this. Everything you put into your body will ultimately have some result. If you eat lots of sugery food, chocolate, fatty foods, high salt foods, caffeine etcetera those foods in excess have negative effects. Without those foods sometimes you feel you are sacrificing something but in excess you know you are causing your weight gain.

To make matters worse having a diet to stick to every day or having to add points up each time you eat does indeed provide the intended result. It does however create this enormous amount of pressure on you to achieve a specific amount of weight loss each week.

I don't need to provide you with a schedule. It would take you a couple of hours reading on the internet or from a few books to establish which foods are going to give you lower fat and healthier eating. You will probably discover that you like eating healthier foods.

The biggest difference is you shouldn't stop having something you really want to. Don't restrict yourself. You know that you are eating fatty or sugary food. In moderation you will not suddenly put on 2 lbs in a day.

There is no magic formula to losing weight. There is no right way and no wrong way. You can, however, do it completely the long way round. Think what you want to achieve, eat healthier, do a little exercise every day and drink at least 2 litres of water every day. After two weeks of just changing your lifestyle and enjoying freedom from diets, plans and points you can lose weight. Multiply those weeks by a few months and you will start to see what you will become.

There is no such thing as failure. Any outcome you achieve is a direct result of the actions you took to get you there. Thinking a diet didn't work is nonsense. Diets do work, people do lose weight on diets. The whole weight loss issue is one of of looking at yourself.

If you desperately wanted to go on holiday next year and began saving. Most people would save and go on holiday. Its not a sacrifice to save for a holiday because the end result is a couple of weeks enjoying the sunshine and relaxing. Weight loss is no different. To be the weight you want to be or the shape you want to be is the end result. Put yourself there and think how good you would feel. Work backwards and here you are. The actions you take now will decide how long it takes you to get to that result. It doesn't matter if it takes you months [depending on how much weight you have to lose]. The critical thing to remember is every action you take [ie every week you spend munching on sugar, fat and bad foods in excess] either puts you a little step closer to your result or it takes you a little further back.

If you can adopt this thinking and live your life in moderation you will achieve your goal. Take the pressure off, have a look inside yourself and live your life differently. Think differently. Your thoughts are your actions and your actions are what ultimately give you your life as it is.

It took me a few hours researching on the internet and a few books I borrowed from the library to read up on the good and bad properties of food. I have also discovered that it is a lot cheaper and more enjoyable to cook fresh foods than to buy processed frozen ones. If you don't like the cooking part you can just buy freshly prepared frozen ones! You don't have to turn Jamie Oliver or become complicated just read up on it and buy different groceries for a couple of weeks.

Balance your diet doesn't mean you are having to go on a diet. Your diet is whatever you choose to eat and giving yourself a balance of everything [remember moderation] is all you need.

Unless you have a specific medical condition it would be impossible to eat healthly for two weeks and not lose weight. You get out what you put in and if you can read up on fat intake and understand what you need to give yourself a balanced diet you will lose weight. Doesn't matter how slow or fast it happens you are losing weight and from a health point of view you are doing it in the very best way.

You have to take genes into account. You can't achieve catwalk model legs if you are 5 ft 2 with small legs. Be realistic and honest with yourself. Being unable to lose weight makes people unhappy. Allowing yourself the freedom to decide what you eat takes away the pressure. Everyone has some understanding of what makes a lifestyle healthy. Start from that point and invest just a couple of hours in yourself. It might seem a little boring having to read up on it, might seem strange having to buy foods that are not all processed. Keep on it for a couple of weeks and don't forget the water - very important with just a splash of exercise - gentle if you haven't done any.

Little steps in the same direction will get you what you want.

If you have tried to lose weight you will have recipes everywhere. I don't need to lose weight anymore but eat a healthy balanced diet and this is my breakfast.

Small pot of natural yogurt

chopped fruit - choose two - strawberries and grapes are good as are raspberries and bananas

chopped walnuts

crushed cereal - Special K [not sure what US equivalent is but a whole grain cereal - flakes are better so you can crush them]

Add into a cereal bowl and stir together

If you work out roughly the amount you need for a week you can buy with your groceries and its in your fridge every day.

Having a tuna salad for lunch drizzled with olive oil and sprinked with black pepper gives you a light protein meal. Choose sandwiches or rolls with salad, vegetables and chicken or fish. Cold pasta with tuna fish and little olive oil and black pepper is a good lunch because you get an energy boost for the afternoon.

Weight Loss Plans - Pick One and Stick To It!

Most people, who are overweight or even obese, did not get there overnight. The same is true for those that have lost a considerable amount of weight that they need to gain back. This article will focus mostly on those who are trying to lose weight, since that seems to be the recent trend in society.

Many people take a positive step when they decide to lose weight. The problem starts when they skip the first step and jump in to some sort of immediate food deprivation to their body. There are several things you must do before you start a diet, while you are on a diet, and when you finish a diet. The first step is probably the most important of all.

Initially, you must evaluate your situation. Questions you should ask yourself should include what is your desired weight, how long have you been at your current weight, and how did you reach the current weight you have. When you look at the weight you desire to be, you must consult a professional to determine if that weight is realistic for your height and bone density. Additionally, there could be serious health risks if you attempt to lose weight too fast or use a method that is not safe for your body.

The length of time you have been at your current weight is directly related to how fast you should try to lose the weight. Your body must learn a new regime, so gradually phasing in the new changes will make it much easier. The longer you take to lose those unhealthy pounds, the greater your chances of keeping your desired weight and staying healthy longer.

How you reached your current weight speaks to your lifestyle. Many changes will probably be required in order to achieve your goal. These decisions are the actual commitment to the diet.

The second step is the diet itself. There are so many weight loss plans to choose, so the important thing is to stick to the one you pick! Set small, short-term goals that are achievable. Take it step by step.

Finally, once you have achieved your desired weight, continue those things that got you there. Reward yourself occasionally with small portions of your favorite foods. Keep up a strict exercise regime that suits your body and lifestyle. Losing weight is only one benefit of smart weight loss plans. The best benefit is how you will feel!

The Weight Loss Program That's Right for You

An estimated 80 million Americans will go on diets this year. Some will succeed in losing their unwanted pounds but very few, perhaps 5 percent, will maintain their desired weight long term.

If you have ever surfed the net looking for a weight loss program that's right for you then you have no doubt been overwhelmed by the huge range of pills, potions, exercises and diets available. Which one do you choose? How do know if its going to work or that the secret ingredients are not sawdust and ground up egg shells. Yep, its scary but true! So much to consider and all you want to do is Loss Weight.

So what are the do's and don'ts of Weight Loss Programs.

The Do's List:

1. If possible, it's best to go with a weight loss program that has been recommended by a friend or trusted source.

2. Check to see if it has the approval of Doctors and/or herbalists.

3. Look to see if the ingredients on supplements are listed.

4. Always go with a program that offers complete support.

5. Investigate any known side effects of supplements.

6. A good program should involve a well balanced diet.

The Don'ts List:

1. Never buy from spam mail offering unbelievable results. If it seems to good to be true it probably is.

2. Don't sign up for a long-term, big bucks program unless you're sure what you're in for. Check out what's being offered. It might not work for you at all.

3. Stay away from rapid weigh loss regimes. Losing weight too rapidly can be dangerous to your health.

Weight loss is such a huge market that it unfortunately attracts many unscrupulous profiteers. So how do you choose a program you feel comfortable with?

If you are going to spend good money on a weigh loss program it pays to choose wisley and personally I always prefer a recommendation over a cold hard sell any day.
